You'll be amazed what a 12 year old can do.
They could kick someone before the end of a mission, just because that person did't perform as they expected. Grief is just around the corner.

Oh yea. Maybe they should not allow kicks after certain things happen (killing certain mobs, specific time passed)

I actually consider this thread to be a very important one for anet to address. I was in Aspenwood and across a span of 3 days I had seen the same warrior "Leeching" in several of the missions.

On day one it was annoying, I was only in aspenwood for maybe an hour or two and the leecher was non repsponsive to my teams taunts.

On day two it was downright insulting, again no response. I wasn't at aspenwood long the second day just wanted to get in some pvp action there and some faction.

The third day I was at aspen for a while and this dude was in nearly every other match I was in and it was the same player from the previous two days. I suspected a bot was in use and opened a ticket to Anet to look into. I don't believe anyone would be sitting at thier computer clicking "Enter Battle" and actually not participate in the battle for many battles. How boring would that be. And in some cases he was right back in which would mean he would need to know when the last battle ended to go back in so quickly. He had to be using a bot but I would leave that up to anet.

The bottom line is that this type of dishonest behaviour will ruin any competitive atmosphere. Look at real life sports in which bribery and match fixing have demoralized fans. Its a very serious issue and if you suspect a bot leecher I would report the abuse to Arena Net and let them decide. They have ways of detecting what is really going on and using a bot is clearly a violation of thier license agreement, if i'm not mistaken there is also verbiage in there about unprofessional sportsmans like conduct of which i consider this to be as well.

Here's a few leeches I've come across in the span of only about 10 games or so. There's at least one in every round, usually 2-3 and to top that, some quitters as well. The premise of Aspenwood is nice but it's just not fun to play when your side (Kurzick) is always at a disadvantage.

If you know these people, give 'em a swift kick in the butt.

ArenaNet doesn't care. According to checking out leechers and bots I've reported, and talking to other people in FA who've reported leechers, not one of the people ever reported has ever been banned.

I reported one guy as a bot, even, as many of them are now using a macro that makes them move around a little bit every 10s or so, to make it appear like they are players at the beginning of the match (they get stuck in the wall pretty quickly and stay there for the duration). No dice, the guy is still doing it, days later.

Please remove the names from that post, Traveller, even if they could be bots.

not going to waste my time to report them i've won as kurzick even with 2+ leechers so not a big deal to me ;~.

Wait, you were being abused by a guy who was AFK? How is that even possible, did he have an auto abuse bot going or something?

Yes, good idea, and suggested a thousand times. It's by now obvious that ANet is dead set against /votekick and will never implement it, so although it's the obvious solution, it's out.

Easily, just because you're type /afk doesn't mean you're not actually there.

I rarely diss ANet but they obviously didn't think the concept all the way through when they made those missions in Factions - they should do something to fix them since as they are now they are effectivly broken.

Someone make a plea to Anet and get them to fix it.. I'm to lazy to do it myself.

hasnt this horse been beaten enough?

honestly anet doesnt see it as that big of a deal, otherwise it would have been taken care of. People are going to do whatever they can to get somethign for nothing, wether it be in this game, another game, or real life. why else do u think we have trade scams, runner scams, afk's, and greifers... life has these 2. only were allowed to put people in jail for them such as its robbery, murder, assault, etc...

Yeh. I stopped playing aspenwood after the event. The whole experience got soured by leechers. Would it kill anet to code in some kind of restriction where you don't get jack if you don't do anything?

I think ANet's lack of reply/game modification is pretty evident. Nothing is going to be done about this problem, despite several seemingly workable suggestions.

As such, you have two choices: "grin and bear it," or don't play Fort Aspenwood. Hopefully if enough people choose the latter, FA dries up like Jade Quarry and the leechers have nothing to leech from.

ZOMG LEECHERS!!!!!

Oh but on a side note, but somewhat relative... A guy I reported for trying to scam people using the "duping" method no longer exists. I recieved my "case closed" email today so thought I'd add the guys name to see if he logs in. Went to add the name and got "That character does not exist". Anet: 1, Scammers: 13084702437832470470387, but meh its a start

I dunno if it's been suggested, but why not only give rewards to the winners? Personally, I always play Ft. Aspenwood as it should be played, but come on, giving you 300 Faction for doing squat is almost inviting people to leech.

I mean, if I didn't have fun doing Ft. Aspenwood I'd leech too; reward for no effort? I mean, who came up with THAT blunder of an idea?

Leechers in missions aren't the same, because if the team loses, the leech does too. They are urged to participate if they want to reap the rewards, as some mission really do require a full team to be completed.

Just remove the rewards for the losers and increase the reward for winners (so that people don't leave Ft. Aspenwood alone out of fear of losing).
